Shillong, May 23: National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong held its 3rd Convocation on 23rd May 2014, at NEHU Convention Hall. 43 graduating students were handed over their degrees and awards on this auspicious day.
Prof. Ashoke K. Dutta, Member of North Eastern Council, in the capacity of Union Minister of state, Former Director, IIM, Shillong & Dean, IIT, Kharagpur, was the Chief Guest for this occasion. Host of distinguished and esteemed guests, Parents of the graduating students and other guests were present in this Convocation.
The Convocation was started at 3:00 PM with the welcome message of Prof. Bibekananda Banerjee, Director, NIFT Shillong. Then the Chief Guest, had read out the Convocation Pledge which was followed by all the students.
Ms. Gargi Deshwal has been awarded with the NIFT Best Academic Performance Award for Fashion Design Department as well as the NIFT Student of the Year Award.
Mr. Alakesh Boruah was awarded with the NIFT Best Academic Performance Award for Accessories Design Department as well as the NIFT Extraordinary Service Award. They have been awarded with the Cash prize of Rupees 11,000/- and Gold Medal.
Then Degrees have been awarded to all the 43 graduating students by the Chief Guest, Director, Deputy Director and respective Course Coordinators of both the departments.
Finally, Chief Guest addressed the gathering. The Convocation was ended with the Vote of thanks delivered by CA Mrinal Sajwan, Deputy Director, NIFT Shillong.(SP News)
