Shillong, May 31: Border Security Force , who is not only serving at border in extreme hard conditions but also putting efforts to make the life of Border state population comfortable, happier, healthy and disease free. In the past also, BSF has been conducting various Blood donation, free medical camps, civic action programme for the border state population.
A Voluntary blood donation camp was organized at 44 BN BSF, Mawpat, Shillong on 31/05/2014 in collaboration with blood bank department NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, on eve of Battalion’s Raising Day. BSF personnel are celebrating their raising day by donating their precious blood to people of Meghalaya and prove that even their joy and celebration are also dedicated to border state population.
On eve of Raising Day Anniversary celebration, more than two dozen Officers and Jawans of 44 BN voluntarily donated blood to NEIGRIMHS as a good will gesture for people of Meghalaya. Various other programmes were also conducted including planting of saplings in all its Border Out Post with great fervour and enthusiasm.
44 Battalion was raised on 01 June 1967 at Jalandhar Punjab, since then it has been remain deployed at Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh border as well as different locations on internal security duties. Presently it is deployed at Mawpat, Shillong in East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya and manning the Indo-Bangladesh border.(SP News)
