Shillong May 17: The 58 Gorkha Training Centre won the prestigious 101 Area Football Championship 2013-14 in Shillong on 14 May 2013. The championship was conducted from 10 May to 14 May 2013 at Rhino Training Complex, Shillong. A total of five teams participated in the Championship. In the keenly contested final match between Arch Rivals 58 GTC and ARC held on 14 May 2013, 58 GTC players displayed extraordinary skills to outsmart a tough ARC team by a final & score of 2-1.
In a colourful ceremony General Officer Commanding 101 Area, Lieutenant General RS Panwar, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, the Chief Guest gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up. The glittering Championship Trophy was awarded to 58 Gorkha Training Centre Team amidst thunderous applause. A Culture programme was also organized on the occasion by the ARC.
