Shillong, May 08: The 58 Gorkha Training Centre Pugilists have won the prestigious 101 area Boxing Championship for the year 2014-2015.
The championship was conducted under the aegis of 101 Area for ten days commencing 26 April 2014. The prize distribution ceremony was held on 6 may 2014.
In the keenly contested Boxing event, 58 GTC emerged victorious by winning 07 (seven) bouts in the finals with overall 33 points. Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) stood Runners Up with overall 19 points.
Havildar Suraj Sunar of 58 GTC in the Fly Weight category (49-52 kg) was adjudged as the Best Boxer of the championship and Naik Sanaton Singh of ARC was adjudged as the Best Loser of the championship. Major General L Padmanaban, Chief of Staff 101 Area was the chief guest.(SP News)
