Jowai, May, 12: It has come to the knowledge of the CSWO that a 10 years old minor was raped by Khmied Sungoh on the 4th May 2014, at Lumkyndong Nangbah Village, West Jaintia Hills, as she had gone nearby to get medicine for her pregnant mother. This fellow grabbed her and took her to the jungle and raped her and threatened her not to tell anyone.
She was scared to complain and it was only on the 9th May 2014 that the FIR was filed, when she complained of pains and she was sent for medical test. The report has come out positive but the report has been taken by the IO of the case Police O Tyngkan of the Jowai PS and she has said that the medical report has been sent to court.
The clothes were also not taken by this woman police and she never even asked about the clothes which were till that date not yet washed, and which should have been sent for FSL. This is the same IO who had once told some victim from Jowai, to burn their clothes and the CSWO fails to understand why this IO has not been punished and booked, and instead promoted.
The CSWO strongly urge that no bail be given to the alleged accused and for the authorities to give speedy justice to all Rape victims. The CSWO again reiterates that a copy of the medical report should always be given to the victim as there are many instances where the medical report is delayed to be produced in court. The CSWO also urge the Public prosecutors to strongly object to bail on such cases and urge the Police to appoint women police who are sensitive to cause of women and children.(SP News)
