A Multi-Specialty Health Camp was organised by the Eastern Air Command

Shillong, Oct 03: A Multi-Specialty Health Camp was organised by the Eastern Air Command, Indian Air Force at Mawphlong village on 02 Oct 13.The  Health Camp was inaugurated by Mrs Chitralekha Sharma, President, Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional) and was attended by Senior Air Force Officers which included Air Vice Marshal DC Agarwal, Principal Medical Officer of Eastern Air Command and Group Captain MA Sridhar VSM.

A Team of Doctors and Specialist from Eastern Air Command Shillong, Air Force Hospital Jorhat & MH Shillong comprising of various specialist in Medicine, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Eye, ENT and Dermatology examined the villagers. Screening for the detection of Cervical Cancer was also undertaken for the ladies.

Laboratory facilities were also provided to detect Anaemia and Diabetes amongst the participants. More than 750 villagers from five villages in Mawphlong area  inclusive of Men, Ladies and children were benefitted from the camp.

The Doctors and paramedics also educated the villagers about the various aspects of a healthy living and modifications for improvement in health so as to prevent diseases attributable to the current lifestyle.

This endeavour of the Indian Air Force was aimed at discharging its obligations to the society by creating health awareness. The overwhelming participation by the villagers aided in achieving the goal of screening for diseases, health education and health promotion.

The Village Headman Mr Lyngdoh along with his associates extended his gratitude towards the organization and  appreciated the efforts of the Indian Air Force in undertaking a very noble cause in social empowerment.(SP News)
