A training for candidates and representatives of political parties at Mawkyrwat

SHILLONG, JAN 14: A training for candidates and representatives of political parties on various elections related guidelines and directives so as to prepare them for the coming Assembly election slated for february 23 was conducted at Maharam Government Secondary School Auditorium, Mawkyrwat on Monday.

The training was conducted by the District election officer South West Khasi Hills  A.Mawlong, additional deputy commissioner in-charge election K.L.Nongbri,  other election officers and master trainers conducted the training.

For political representatives training was provided on how to file the nomination papers, election expenditures, paid news and printing of pamphlets posters, model code of conduct  and various others election-related matters. Candidates and representatives of all political parties of both 35 –Ranikor (ST) Assembly constituency and 36-Mawkyrwat (ST) Assembly constituency attended the training programme.

Earlier, the district election officer said the National Voters Day will be celebrated on the January 25. The objective of the celebration as envisaged by the Election Commission of India, he said, was to allow every individual who has attained the age of 18 years to vote so that the true democracy prevails
