Shillong November 22: Irked over the adamant attitude of the government in failing to address to the issues of the ad-hoc primary school teachers, the primary teachers under the banner of the All Meghalaya Ad-hoc Lower Primary School Association (AMALPSA) resort to their indefinite hunger strike starting form Thursday.
Showing their resentment, hundreds of primary adhoc school teachers from across the state gather together near the raj bhavan on Thursday to press upon the demands of increasing their salary.
It may be mentioned here that recently, the ad-hoc primary teachers have stage their agitation by holding a sit in demonstration at the same venue where they gather today. .
Talking to reporters AMALPSA president GH Marbaniang informed that the government does not repond to their demands in increasing their salary or either regularize their post. Besides, he also informed that the association had put forward their demands to the government however, no positive results has been yielded so far. Meanwhile, marbaniang informed that the teachers were forced to take up the agitation and will continued to do so as long as the government is not willing to adress the issue.
It may be mentioned here that altogether, there were 1116 adhoc primary teachers from 558 schools in the state as a whole. (SP News)
