SHILLONG, July 31: The president of CSWO Agnes Kharashiing in her press release said that she was surprised and shocked that “Red Ant Dream”, is not allowed to be screened in the City that the Police want to watch it first. It is all the more shocking that an institution par excellence like St Anthony’s is dropping the film just because of interference from the Police.
The press release also says that Police should understand the frustration of youth nowadays is not because of the documentaries that brings out facts but the real facts of rampant corruption that is perpetrated by those in power.
“Difficulties the youth face in getting jobs is one of the main frustration. Most of the Jobs are given only to those who have connections and through the back door as happened in the white ink education scam, and in MIDC,” the release reads further adding, “Fake Encounters, torture, illegally framing false cases on the youth, inadequate health services, are other factors aggravating the youth.
These and the Rampant Corruption of all development funds and the fact that most Police who should be law enforcers increasingly being ‘lawbreaker protectors’ will perhaps give rise to a Revolution. Most of the Police do not dare make arrests of politicians even when prima facie evidence is there.
Revolution may also rise from the Police themselves as they are fed up with the Administration that disallows them even to form associations for their own welfare.
The CSWO urges the youth and the people at large, to not fear watching the documentaries that bring out the real hard facts that may hit the ego of the corrupt people in Governance. Youth should grow in an atmosphere where they should learn the right thing and learn to avoid what is bad. We live in a country that boasts of its democracy, yet curtails freedom of speech and expression, and also limits information.(SP News)
