Shillong, Dec 11: Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne PVSM AVSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff arrived at Headquarters Eastern Air Command today in his two days farewell visit and to attend Eastern Air Command Commmanders’ Conference. The Chief of the Air Staff is accompanied by Mrs Kiran Browne, President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA).
The Chief of the Air Staff and President AFWWA were received by Air Marshal RK Sharma AVSM VM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Headquarters Eastern Air Command and Mrs Chitralekha Sharma, President AFWWA (Regional) Eastern Air Command at Advance Landing Ground, Shillong. During his visit, the CAS addressed Senior Officers, Field Commanders and all personnel of Headquarters Eastern Air Command.
An alumnus of National Defence Academy, Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne PVSM AVSM VM ADC was commissioned into the Fighter Stream of the IAF in June 1972. In a distinguished career spanning forty years, the CAS has flown a wide variety of jet aircrafts including Hunters, all variants of MiG-21, Jaguar and SU-30K. He is a Fighter Combat Leader and has served as an Instructor at the Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TADCE).
The Air Chief Marshal has rich experience of operational flying, training and Staff assignments. A graduate of the Air Command and Staff College, USA, the Air Chief Marshal has held many key appointments before taking on as the Chief of the Air Staff on 31 Jul 2011. He would relinquish his Office on 31 Dec 13, to be succeeded by Air Marshal Arup Raha PVSM AVSM VM ADC.
During the visit, Mrs Kiran Browne President AFWWA interacted with Sanginis of Headquarters Eastern Air Command at a function, organised by AFWWA (R) at Meghalaya Hall on 11 Dec 13. The President AFWWA urged Sanginis to empower themselves and become self sufficient in every walk of their life. President AFWWA wished all the Sanginis good health and prosperity in the times to come. (SP News)
