Air Marshal RK Jolly has taken over as the Air Officer C-in-C of Eastern Air Command

Shillong, Jan 01: Air Marshal RK Jolly has taken over as the Air Officer Commander-in-Chief of Eastern Air Command, IAF on 01 Jan 2014. He was presented with the Ceremonial Guard of Honour by Airwarriors of HQ EAC on assuming Command.

A Gold Medalist (BA) from Delhi University and an alumnus of National Defence Academy and Defence Services Staff College, Air Marshal RK Jolly VM VSM ADC was commissioned in the fighter stream of the IAF on 11 Jul 75.

He has flown various aircrafts which include Hunter, Marut, all variants of MiG-21 and has over 3800 hrs of flying. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor and, in his 38 years of service, the Air Marshal has held many important Field and Staff appointments. He has commanded a premier forward Fighter Base and was the Air Attaché at Embassy of India in Washington DC from 2005 to 2008. He has been the Senior Air Staff Officer, both at South Western Air Command and Southern Air Command.

He was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 1997 and Vishisht Seva Medal in 2003 for distinguished service. With effect from 01 Jul 13, the Air Marshal has been appointed as the Honorary ADC to the honourable President of India. Prior to his present appointment, Air Marshal RK Jolly VM VSM ADC was the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command.

Mrs Meenakshi Jolly assumed the charge of President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA) Regional on 01 Jan 14 at an official Ceremony held at the HQ Eastern Air Command, Shillong.(SP News)
