Jowai, May 13: In an interesting story, AJYWO had lodged a complaint against one Nepali who claimed himself to be the Headman of Umthe Village falling under Elaka Sutnga with the Chief Executive Member of the JHADC yesterday.
“We have have lodged a complaint against one Nepali who claimed himself to be the headman of one Nepali Village known as Umthe falling under the Elaka Sutnga, East Jaintia Hills District,” the press statement from the AJYWO said.
“We have enough proofs to prove against the illegal status of the said Nepali Headman. We have got a Permanent Residential Certificate signed by him as the Headman of Umthe Village issued to one of his Nepali Residents. We have also the RTI report issued by the PIO of the JHADC that proves the illlegality of the said Headman as per United Khasi-Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Appoitment and Succession of Chiefs & Headmen) Act, 1959. Surprisingly, the JHADC knows nothing about the presence of such Nepali Village in Elaka Sutnga and Nepali Headman,” Bah M H Dkhar President AJYWO Central (G) Body said in a press statement.
“The presence of such a Nepali Village and Nepali Headman, in Jaintia Hills which is the Homeland of the minority tribal Pnar people covered under the 6th scheduled of the Constitution of India is a dangerous threat to the Pnar people in all spheres. The population of the Nepalese in Jaintia Hills is already a threat to the minority indigenous people of Jaintia Hills. If the JHADC will not neutralized this Nepali Village and this Nepali Headman as soon as possible, time will come when all the Nepalese in Khasi and Jaintia Hills will avail Permanent Residential Certificate from the said Village and the said Nepali Headman and when that time comes, it will be too late for the JHADC to react and this will pose very a dangerous threat to the security of the minority indigenous tribal people of boththe Khasis and Jaintias.” Mr Dkhar added.
“Dkhar also informs, “Though we could not meet the CEM face to face to discuss this matter but in our complaint submitted to him, we demanded from him (CEM) to punish the said Nepali Headman and to immediately neutralize that Nepali Village Umthe”.
The AJYWO will never rest, until and unless the said Nepali Headman is punished and the said Nepali Village is neutralize by the JHADC. The AJYWO also threatened to even lodge an FIR with the police against the said Nepali Headman in its future course of action.(SP News)
