All India Trinamool Congress to declare list of candidates soon

Shillong, Jan 3: The All India Trinamool Congress have announced that the list of the first phase of candidates who will contest in the upcoming election will  be declared soon.

Party sources informed that the list of candidates who will be contesting from 35 seats in the coming Assembly election will be decalred by January second week besides it was also informed that the party is likely to field around 20 candidates from Garo hills.

It was also learnt that the party will put special focus on Garo Hills. It may be mentioned here that the  TMC is not a new party in the State and Purno Sangma was the MP from the Tura Lok Sabha seat which he won in 2004.

After having differences with NCP leader Sharad Pawar in 2004, former Lok Sabha speaker PA Sangma merged his faction with the current Chief Minister of West Bengal and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, forming the Nationalist Trinamool Congress.

He resigned from his Lok Sabha seat on October 10, 2005 as a member of AITMC/TMC, and was reelected as NCPcandidate on February 2006.

TMC was a recognised state party in the State but after Sangma quit the party no one took up the mantle to strengthen the party and it lost its recognition. This election, the party is once again looking forward to regain its lost glory.(SP News)
