All party meeting on influx re-schedule on UDP request

Shillong, Sept 02:  The principle opposition party in the state, United Democratic Party (UDP) has requested chief minister Dr. Mukul Sangma to defer the proposed all party meeting on influx scheduled for September 3, 2013.

Confirming this, former chief minister and UDP president, Donkupar Roy told Eastern Chronicle that the request was in light of the fact that official communication on the proposed meet was received by him only yesterday.

“Due to today’s bandh and the little time in hand, I have requested Dr Sangma to defer the meeting to another day,” Roy said adding, “This does not in any way mean that we are boycotting the invitation of the government to discuss on this serious issue,” even as he categorically stated, “The proposed meeting is on influx and not on ILP (inner line permit), I want to make it clear.”

Meanwhile, when contacted, chief minister Dr. Mukul Sangma confirmed the UDP’s request and said that the government has acceded to it and rescheduled the meeting to Thursday, September 5, 2013. (SP News)
