Shillong, July 27: The Member of Parliament from Shillong Mr Vincent H Pala said that the government of Meghalaya should constitute an independent body free from political affiliation is required to have an in-dept on the Inner Line Permit before taking any decision to implement or reject it.
Speaking to SP News Agency about the Inner Line Permit which is the burning issue in the state of Meghalaya the MP from Shillong said” I will not say to implement or not to Implement, but my personal filling is that, the government should constitute an independent body to study the merit and demerit, before taking any decision”.
He also said,” we are living in the democratic country where each one of us has the freedom to express our views on any issue” but as a responsible government should act also responsibly on any issued when it come for the common interest of the state.
Mr Pala also said that, “ we should not allowed people to freely come and settle in the state, we need to protect it , at the same time the restriction if it is impose should not hamper the development activities and the economic growth of the state”.
The Inner Line Permit also line to the land tenure system in the state of Meghalaya, where in Garo Hills the Nokmas issue the land pata, In Jaintia Hills the District Council issue the land pata and in the Khasi Hills the Syiem , Lyngdoh or Sirdar.
“ we are living in the world of globalization where no one can live in isolation, if any thing happen in Europe will affect America, and if anything happen in India will affect America and so on. Coming to our state in Garo Hills they even have a non tribal MDC but in Khasi and Jaintia we do not have” these are few example said Mr Pala.
Mr Pala said “ my personal view on the ILP the independent body that will study the system haw it function should be done by a body which do not have any political affiliation, then will get the genuine report, as long as political people are involved will not get the true report” .
Mr Pala said that he just heard that the working group under the chairmanship of Mr Bindo M Lanong has submitted the report to the government but he said that he have not seen it, but the people has rejected him in the election and all thus who are in favors of the ILP. (SP News)
