Shillong, Dec 16: The ANVC Breakaway fraction has alleged that on the last day of AHAIA ANVC set an ambush for ANVC.B leaders at Chandmary ATM when its leaders went to make some transfers.
The outfit in a press communiqué said “Two vehicles belonging to ANVC cadres were on silent pursuit in one Sumo ML08 3834 belonging to Lambu@General which halted near ATM and black scorpio belonging to one ANVC cadre.
They are using newly recruited cadres whose faces are not known for the unwarranted activities. ANVC.B cadres detected their movement and hastily escorted the leaders to the camp. This is not fair as consequences could be fatal.”
Asserting that ANVC must stop targeting the leaders of Breakaway fraction leaders or else peace will fail to make an impact in Garo Hills.
The press release said, “We are silent on many ANVC activities including threats to our family members. Provocation such as these could bring down our effort to bring peace in Garo Hills. Stop hunting us or we will be forced to retaliate for which we will not be responsible. ANVC must control Sasan from making threat calls to our family members. This is between us; do not drag the family members.”
The outfit further said, “Surrender of Gideon@Jangsan is a big relief to the people of North Garo Hills. He joined the mainstream giving up arms is a good sign on a fact that he was a nuisance to the public. We appeal that public must be rest assured that he will not involve himself in any untoward activities or use gun power as he did for personal benefit maligning the name of ANVC.B. Once surrendered means surrendered and Govt should not arm them.”
The press release added, “ We are however sceptic of ANVC involvement in the said surrender. Govt must make sure that Gideon is not armed again to collect money from NH 62 for ANVC. Sasan’s involvement is not a good sign as he is making open collection from Nongal and moving freely with arms which were never deposited to the Govt. If this is a new trend to attract armed rebels than it will be a good business opportunity for all who wants to make easy money.”(SP News)
