Shillong, March 03: The Vice Chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board said that On 1st March 2014, at 11.50am, at Laitumkhrah beat house junction, while proceeding towards laitumkhrah police point, suddenly a car from behind was blazing loud with sirens, thinking it was an ambulance he immediately told his driver to give way only to see a uniformed Para military black ambassador with a red beacon, and what was even bizarre was that there was a lady an what looked like her little child sitting in the back.
After giving way to the siren blaring vehicle Mr John Kharshiing followed behind an then it turns out that this vehicle dropped the two civilians (a lady and her child) occupants infront of Laitumkhrah Market.
Mr Kharshiing said thanks to technology, he managed to take pictures of the vehicle dropping the VVIPs to market.
Question is are the Para military vehicles exempted from the Motor vehicles Act and Rules, and are the armed forces beyond Supreme court directives?
Hopefully, traffic police will take action against this erring official, as the picture has the number plate of the official vehicle.(SP News)
