Shillong December 17: On 15th Dec’ 2012, at about 2100 hrs, on specific intelligence input, in a joint operation, BSF troops of BOP Gumaghat, Ex 73 Bn deployed in South West Khasi Hills distt of Meghalaya along with Meghalaya Police conducted raid in the house of one Kumari Sangma, at Lowar Puksora, PS Ranikhor Distt South West Khasi Hills and nabbed GNLA “Area Commander” for South West Khasi Hills identified as Pollop D Sangma s/o Ada Ram Marak, r/o Vill- Warima Basti, Ps- Williamnagar, Distt- East Garo Hills (Meghalaya)and his accomplice namely Lakmasan Sangma s/o- M Marak, r/o vill- Lowar Puksora, PS Ranikhor Distt South West Khasi Hills. The Ops party also recovered one Bajaj Motorcycle Regn No ML-05-A-1354 and Indian Currency-Rs.49,500/- from the apprehended cadres.
During preliminary questioning, both the cadres confessed that they were working with the GNLA and also involved in extortion and other militant activities of the GNLA in South West Khasi Hills distt. They had weapon earlier but not found at the time of arrest.(SP News)
