Shillong, December 29: On 28 Dec’ 2012, on specific input, BSF troops of BOP Chandaboi Ex 132 Bn deployed in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya apprehended one Bangladeshi national Md Satta Miya aged 26 yrs, s/o Md Manan, r/o vill- Burunga, PO-Baramari, PS- Nalitabari, Distt- Sherpur (Bangladesh) while he was cutting tree illegally inside Indian Territory.
Aalong with three Bangladeshi national near BP No 1112/1-S. The other three Bangladeshi national managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of dense forest. During the search, party recovered 01 knife (Dah) from his possession. He was involved in poaching of forest produce activities on Indo-Bangladesh border.
On 27th Dec 2012, on specific input, BSF troops of BOP Baldamgiri Ex-23 Bn deployed in South West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya seized 07 Kg of Ganja Approx worth Rs.35,000/- (Thirty-five thousand only) while it was being smuggled into Bangladesh.
It is pertinent to mention here that it has always been the endeavor of BSF to keep a strict vigil and deny any smuggling of psychotropic substances/ narcotics/alcohol to Bangladesh and in this task BSF is also seeking the help of BGB.
Apprehended persons and seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further disposal and legal action as per law of the land.(SP News)
