BSF nabbed Bangladeshi illegal migrant

Shillong 29 October: The Border Security Force On 25th  Oct’ 2012 at about 1830 hrs, on specific input, BSF troops of BOP Kuliang & Umkiang, ex-98 Bn BSF, deployed in East Jaintia Hills distt of Meghalaya apprehended Eleven Bangladeshi illegal migrants, near BP No. 1324/3-S, while they were trying to exfiltrate from India to Bangladesh.

During search, the party seized the following items from their possession Indian Currency –   Rs. 30,420/-  Mobile -05 Nos worth Rs.10,000/- with 04 Indian and 01           BD SIM.

During preliminary questioning, the apprehended illegal migrants revealed that they were working in the coal mines near Khlierihat. The details of the apprehended person is attached as appendix .

It is pertinent to mention that the Meghalaya Frontier, BSF has launched intensive drive against the illegal migrants and the cattle smuggling. During the month of Oct 2012, the troops have apprehended 62 nos of illegal migrants and 271 nos of Cattle worth Rs. 19,86,970/- from the Meghalaya border with the Bangladesh.

Apprehended persons and seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further disposal and legal action as per law of the land.
