BSF seize cattle smuggled to Bangladesh

Shillong Nov 24: The troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) of BOP Jatrakona deployed in South Garo Hills district seized a motorcycle Bajaj Discover-150 CC worth Rs 65,000 while it was being smuggled to Bangladesh near BP No 1120/3-S in South Garo Hills on an intervening night of November 23-24.

According to the BSF a gang of trans-border motorcycle thieves are operating in the border belts of Meghalaya and Bangladesh and the group is involved in stealing motorcycles and smuggling it to Bangladesh for a huge amount of money.

The BSF has therefore stepped up vigil at the International border to keep a check to it, read the communiqué.

Besides, it was also informed that during the last week, BSF troops of Meghalaya frontier seized cattle, wooden logs and other contraband items of the estimated cost of Rs 8,95, 000.

Meanwhile, the seized items was handed over to the concerned department for further disposal and legal action as per the law of the land.(SP News)
