Shillong, Sept 28: A Voluntary blood donation camp was organized at BSF Composite Hospital by members of BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) in collaboration with the Blood Bank department of NEIGRIHMS Shillong. BWWA, an organization run by BSF personnel’s wife came into existence in the year 1992 after getting registered at Registrar office at Delhi and since then, it is looking after the welfare of serving and non-serving personnel’s family.
Smt. Vijay Lashmi Singh, Acting President, BWWA of Meghalaya Frontier, BSF, inaugurated the camp and congratulated the volunteer wives of BSF Officers and men for donating blood, for their selfless and noble service for the humanity and also motivated others to come forward for the noble cause.
Dr. L. Lyngdoh, Blood Bank Officer of NEIGRIHMS explained the importance of blood donation and demystified the myths and taboos against blood donation in the society at large. She also expressed her gratitude to the BSF for always being ready to the call of the society. She acknowledged the role of BSF in guarding the borders and expressed gratitude to the BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA), Meghalaya Frontier, BSF, for making efforts for the noble cause of blood donation.
Large number of lady wives of Officers and men including the Officer and men enthusiastically came forward for this noble cause. Total 36 personnel donated their blood during the camp. Each volunteer was given a rich refreshment of fruit juices, eggs, sweets cookies after blood donation.(
