Shillong, June 29: As part of its expansion and national campaign under financial inclusion, Canara Bank, Sohiong branch was inaugurated today by Mr. H. D. R. Lyngdoh, Meghalaya Transport Minister and local MLA., in the presence of Mr. K. C. Khyriem, Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism department, Mr. L. Blah, MDC, Mr. Satish Kumar Mathur, Deputy General Manager, Canara Bank, Guwahati, Mr. Sunil Kumar Gupta, Chief Manager, Canara Bank, Shillong, Sordar and people of the areas at Sohiong.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Lyngdoh said with the opening of the Canara Bank, Sohiong Branch which is one of the Nationalized Bank in the country clearly demonstrates the commitment of the bank as the partner in the economic and financial development in the rural areas. He also informed that the Bank will provide the people of Sohiong and its adjoining villages with the latest banking facilities like ATM, E-Banking, Mobile Banking beside the primary functions of the Bank.
Mr. Satish Kumar Mathur, Deputy General Manager, Canara Bank informed that the Canara Bank, Sohiong Branch is the 6 branches in the State of Meghalaya and has a nation-wide network of more than 3,700 branches across the country. He also informed that the Canara Bank will impart free entrepreneurship training to rural youth at the training centre at Nagaon, Assam.(SP News)
