Case registered against police personnel who attemted to strangulate a boy at Markasa

Shillong, Aug 6: Following the arrest of a police personnel R Sten who attempt to strangulate a boy in a taxi in Markasa West Khasi Hills, Superintendent of Police West Khasi Hills Sylvester Nongtnger informed that a case has been filed against him.

In a press statement issued by the Superintendent of Police West Khasi Hills Sylvester Nongtnger in a said a case has been filed at the Nongstoin Police Station Case No 57(8) 2013 U/S 232/506/307 IPC.

Nongtnger said that the accused has been produced in a court and had been remanded to judicial custody.”

The SP also added that in the FIR filed by the mother of the boy, against the police personal   R Sten was allegedly in a drunken state and attempted to strangle the boy.

It may be mentioned that R Sten was under suspension after he manhandled a truck driver in Nongstoin in January.

It was also informed that enquiry for the previous case is yet to be concluded while another enquiry has been initiated against him.

Police also informed that “R Sten was arrested on 3/08/2013 from his parental home at Umsohsun in Shillong in connection with the case.(SP News)
