Centenary film festival will begin on 21 January

Shillong, Jan 17: It would be an honour for the state of Meghalaya to have given the priviledge host the centenery film festival.

Meghalaya has been choosen by the ministry of information and broadcasting from amongst the north eastern states as the venue to host the three-day film festival scheduled to be held from  January 21 at U Soso Tham auditorium.

The film festival would also be remebered as it will coincides with the Meghalaya Day celebration.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday HM Shangpliang Director of the Department of Information and Public Relation informed that the government has been given an offer to host the film festival.

“The offer came since last year and has also scheduled this film festival sometime in the month of November but due to many unforseen reasons the state cannot make it”, Shangpliang said.

It was also learnt that this year being the centenery year of the Indian cinema, the ministry of information and broadcasting is holding film festival all over the country in various places.

Elaborating further on the film festival Shangpliang informed  that the inaugural session will  be held on january 21 at 4 pm in which the chief guest will be the chief secretary WMS Pariat.

Besides, he also informed that Guest from Bollywood would also participate at the film festival which includes Rajiv Jain direstor of film festival, film stars moon moon Sen , Riya Sen,  actor and director Anjan Dutt, director and actor Vivek Damley besides Rahul Bose who is yet to confirm his participation.

All together ten films will be screened which also includes one Khasi film Manik raitong which will be screened on the second day as well as one Jaintia film name Chake which will  be screened on the last day.(SP News)
