Shillong, Sept 06: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma today inaugurated the Additional District Kiosk for the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) at the Holy Cross Health Centre, Mairang, West Khasi Hills District in the presence of Chairman MGCC, Mr R V Lyngdoh and Mairang MLA, Mr M Lyngdoh among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mukul expressed his gratitude to all the Mission Hospitals in the State for their contribution towards Health care in the State and also for partnering with the Government in achieving the goals of its Health Missions. He said that despite many challenges faced by the private hospitals, it is heartening that they still strive to fulfil their commitment towards providing health care to the people particularly in the rural areas.
He said that the MHIS claims were mostly availed by the people from the Mission Hospitals like Holy Cross Health Centre which is comparatively high compared to Government Hospitals. He also said that it is important for the Government to understand that mission hospitals should be strengthened by way of equipping them with diagnostic and investigation equipment as they are partners in the mission.
Dr Mukul said that there is a need to sensitise and create awareness among the people of the State to enroll themselves in the MHIS and he also hope that by next year 100% enrolment will be achieved.
Dr Mukul also assured that one ambulance will soon be sanctioned for Holy Cross Health Centre, Mairang and also assured support in many other aspects.(SP News)
