Shillong, May 09: Shri Lal Thanhawla, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram visits the army recruitment rally at Aizawl on 9 may 2013. While addressing the candidates during the rally the hon’ble Chief Minister expressed his desire that large number of yo
uth from Mizoram should join the Indian army as soldiers and also as commissioned officers.
He was shown the entire computerized procedure of recruitment, use of biometrics and digital photo in database of the Army. Brig RV Singh Deputy Director Recruiting, (NE States) briefed the Hon’ble Chief Minister on the recruitment process and procedures. Col DS Phansalkar, Director Recruiting, Aizawl briefed the visiting dignitary about the activities of the Army Recruiting Office Aizawl and the rally. Shri Lal Thanhawla discussed issues related to recruitment and commission in detail.
The physical tests of Army Recruitment Rally concluded on 09 May 2013 at the Rajiv Gandhi Astro-Turf Stadium, Mualpui, Aizawl. Medical and documentation is still underway and it will take another two to three days to complete the balance activities.
The Army was providing free lunch, tea and snacks in the morning and afternoon to the candidates. The Hon’ble Chief Minister was very happy with the organization and conduct of the rally and assured that the State Government will continue to assist the Army in the recruitment process. The proposed SOP to be issued by the State Government on assistance to be provided to the Army for conduct of recruitment rally is likely to be issued shortly by the State Government. The response of nearly 6000 candidates was unprecedented for Mizoram. The written exam for candidates pass in medical will be held in KV Pushpak, Aizawl on 26 May 2013.
A number of other civil dignitaries, and civil government officials including the ADC and SP were also present. All present praised the open, fair, transparent and computerized system of recruiting. The State Police, including the Armed Police was deployed in strength to control and regulate the crowd.
