CM inaugurates FHWTS hostel, academic block, NRHM warehouse

TURA,01st Sept:Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma inaugurated the hostel and academic block of the Female Health Workers’ Training School (FHWTS) at an elaborate function at Rongkhon near here. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the NRHM Sub State Warehouse which will be catering to the storing requirements of the five districts of Garo Hills constructed at the premises of the FHWTS. The FHWTS Academic Block equipped with a Laboratory and Library amongst others was constructed with an estimated amount of 1.11 crores while the hostel housing sixty trainees was constructed with an amount of 1.18 crores informed Medical department officials.

Commending the medical fraternity for the newly constructed infrastructure, Dr Sangma stated that the medical and the education sector was always the focal point of the governments’ developmental initiatives. However, there is a need for convergence to implement schemes effectively and within a time frame Dr Sangma observed. He stated that there is a necessity for creating a timeline for implementing schemes so that there is no time lapse during implementation. Referring to criticism regarding the state’s flagship Mega Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) Dr Sangma opined that misunderstanding prevailed due to ineffective dissemination of information amongst the stake holders by concerned departments. Maintaining that implementation of schemes within a given timeframe and optimum utilization of resources would usher in more funds Dr Sangma urged the medical fraternity to be proactive. He later informed that a medical facility would be available for the people of Rongkhon within next year.

Health Services West Garo Hills Division Joint Director C J M Sangma in his introductory speech informed that the FHWTS, the was established in the year 1963 and has since been nurturing the dreams of the aspirants of the region.
