Coal baron are protecting non tribal traders in Jaintia Hills

Jowai, August 12: The Jaintia Hills Autnomous District Council (JHADC) fine it difficult asked the non tribal traders in Jaintia Hills to obtain their trading license in carrying their business activities which fall under the JHADC jurisdiction.

The Executive Member in charge trade Mr Laitsing Shylla told SP News Agency that the JHADC fine it difficult to make the non tribal traders in Jiantia Hills to obtain their trading license because they got the protection from the Coal baron in the coal belt areas.

When ever the JHADC official went to conduct the raid to fine out which non tribal traders run their business with out having trading license, the shop owner will come out and claim that  these non tribal are they workers. In these case the JHADC cannot do anything.

When it come to cement factory in Jiantia Hills the EM Incharge trade said that all of them have obtain trading license and they are also paying their professional tax regularly. The Council is finding difficult to control the non tribal traders because the local are protecting them.

The EM in charge requested the Dorbar shnong, the non-governmental organization to work together with the JHADC to see that non tribal coming to Jaintia Hills doing their business should have trading license.(SP News)
