Shillong, March 17: The terms of the Rajya Sabha Mp from Meghalaya is due on the 26 of this month, but Thomas A Sangma resign earlier to contest the Assembly election form North Tura which he was defeated .
The Congress in Meghalaya is searching for the candidate to set up for the election to the Rajya Sabha which the election commission of India may declare at any time for the election for Meghalaya.
Mr Thomas A Sangma was elected to be the MP of the Rajya Sabha from Meghalaya from the NCP ticket on 26 March 2008 and his term expired on the 28 March 2013 this year.
The Congress will win the election to the Rajya Sabha this time since they have the required numbers of MLA, the question is whom they will set up as the candidate. Sources from the Congress said that Mr John F Kharshiing is trying his best to lobby to be their candidate. (SP News)
