Demo cum Coaching Camp in Judo held at Nongpoh

Nongpoh, Jan 26: As part of the ongoing free demonstration cum coaching camp in judo in all the 10 district of Meghalaya conducted by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs along with Meghalaya Judo Association, the O/O District of Sports Office Ri Bhoi District Nongpoh informed that such camp will be held w. e. f. 20th Feb 2014 at Indoor Stadium /NSCA Nongpoh.

For  those who want to enroll themselves for such free coaching camp in judo can do so at the office of DSO Nongpoh on or before 5th Feb 2014 during office hour. At the same, interested players, athletes and judokas can also contact Meghalaya Judo Association at 9863043125/9863060576 or email to meghalayajudo@gmail.com.

it is worthwhile to mentioned here that such camps are being conducted under the patronage of the state government. After conducting all Demo-cum-Coaching Camps in all districts, State Level Judo Championship will be held in Shillong in the month of April 2014. This is also one of the major preparations for the Junior National Judo Championship 2014 to be held in Shillong.

Judo is the only discipline of martial arts being played in the Olympic since 1964 and 1984 for men and women respectively. It originates from Japan and Dr Jigoro Kano is the founder of Judo. For other districts, names can be enrolled with the respective District Sports Offices. Yesterday at the Lusofonia Games Goa 2014, India bagged 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals in judo discipline in Goa through Kalpana Devi Thoudam, Avtar Singh, Pramod Kumar, Garima Choudhary, Snusha Gawas, Manjeet Nandal, Rajni Bala and Shivkaran Kenat.
