Shillong, March 14:The District Election Officer, West Khasi Hills District has informed that in compliance with the direction of the Election Commission of India that distribution of cash, liquor or any other item for gratification of the voters is an act of bribery and it is a punishable offence. Flying squads have been formed to keep watch over any distribution of cash, liquor and other items during the election.
He also appealed to all that anybody carrying huge amount of cash in any constituency during the election should carry proper documents to show the source and end use such cash in order to avoid seizure by the flying squad.
