Shillong July 09: The meeting of the District Level committee on Crime and Violence against Women was held today under the chairmanship of Shri Sanjay Goyal,IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills in his office chamber.
All the members of the committee namely the District administration, Superintendent of Police, District Social Welfare, District Medical Health Officer, District Child Protection, District Information & Public Relations, District Social Education, Meghalaya State Commission for Women and North East Network attended the meeting.
In the meeting various cases related to crime and violence against women which was presented by the Police Department was reviewed including those cases under the Domestic Violence Act 2000.
The committee also dwelled at length on the core issue relating to pending cases in the court and to find ways and means to expedite for speedy disposal of the cases. The Committee also decided to monitor the status of registered cases related to crime and violence against Women in the fast track court and other court as well. (SP News)
