Jowai, Sept 13: A month long competitions organised by the District Society for Arts & Culture at the District Level concluded today. The closing function of the competitions was held at the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong, Jowai.Prof. R.C Laloo, Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, DP Kharsati, D Hyniewta ADC’s, West Jaintia, F.B Basan EAC and others were present for the function.
Speaking at the closing function, Prof. R.C Laloo, stress on the importance of retaining the cultural dance as it promotes on the maintenance of the culture and its benefit to a healthy life. He also advice the students to conduct researches on this cultural promotion.
Quiz, Folk Song, Indigenous Instrument, Folk Dance competitions were held today.The Winners for the Quiz Competition JNV Mukla, Sawlyngdoh Higher Secondary School, Laskein Block and Sokha Government Higher Secondary School.
Loomiongkjam, Jowai, Sokha Government Higher Secondary School and Madan Kynsaw were the winners of Indigenous Instrument Competition. Folk Song winners are Seinraj Shangpung, Khliehmuchut, Loomiongkjam, Jowai, Nephiengton Secondary School, Wahiajer and the winners for Folk Dance Competition are Kya Welfare organisation, Nartiang, Baroto B, Marian Hill Higher Secondary School.The winners will represent the District at the State Level.
