Shillong, June 17: The Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Mr At Mandal today given his final approval to recognised Dr Donkupar Roy of the UDP as the Leader of the Opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
The opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has sent their representation to the Speaker asking him to recognised Dr Roy as the leader of the opposition in the floor of the House. The opposition has from the Meghalaya People Front as opposition which include the UDP, NPP, and some Independent MLA.
The notification for the approval of the leaders of the opposition was issued today by the Assembly secretariat and the same will be communicate to Dr Donkupar Roy that he was approve as the leaders of the opposition.
Mr Paul Lyngdoh UDP MLA, while speaking to SP News Agency said that they are thankful to the Speaker for his approval, and he fill that in the democracy the leaders of the opposition is required to have a vibrant opposition in the floor of the House.(SP News)
