Shillong, August 15: The Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma announced that the Government of Meghalaya is will have a new shousing scheme when he said “ Friends, it is also my pleasure to announce that we propose to implement a new Housing Scheme called the “Meghalaya Affordable Housing Scheme” where houses will be constructed by the Government for the Economically Weaker Sections of the population”.
This new shcmes will replace the erstwhile Rural Housing Scheme. Under the new scheme, Low Income Group and Middle Income Group rental houses in the district headquarters will also be constructed for providing accommodation to government employees.
On the issue of inter-State boundary, we are continuing our engagement with the Ministry of Home Affairs in Government of India for them to prevail upon the Assam Government to agree to our proposition of constituting a “Border Commission” to find a solution to this long outstanding matter.
The Chief minister also said that the problem of unemployment and lack of opportunities have been the bane in the path of development and progress. Our strategy has, therefore, been to create opportunities for employment both in the Government and non-Government sectors through a variety of interventions.
In his speech the Chief minister also dwelt at length about the various activies that the government has taken up in various form, the Health, Education ect. He has also recall the contribution of our freedom figheter from the state of Meghalaya , u Tirot Sing, Kiang Nangbah badn Patogan Sangma.
The Chief minister urged upon the people of the state “Let us pledge to remember not only our rights but also to fulfil our duties and responsibilities with dedication, hard work and sincerity for a bright and prosperous society”. (SP News)
