Dr Mukul launches Social Assistance Scheme in Kharkutta

Tura, Aug 11 : Meghalaya Chief, Dr. Mukul M Sangma had launched the Chief Minister’s Social Assistance Scheme for infirm, widows and disabled in Kharkutta C&RD Block on 8 August.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sangma  said that every deserving individual will get the benefit being provided under  the scheme. With a view to give access to the people  of the state about the facilities being provided by the government, Dr. Sangma said that the order had already been given on 7 August  for implementation of Meghalaya Help Desk On-line. Urging the beneficiaries under the Financial Inclusion Scheme to utilize the financial assistance given to them to improve their standard of living, the Chief Minister said that the Govt. had set a target to cover 4 lakh families under the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Promotion Program (IBDLP).  While highlighting about the tireless efforts of the Govt. to bring in more development to the state, Dr. Sangma informed the gathering that the Govt. of Meghalaya had already identified the sites under the Cluster Approach to set up 2 cattle farms.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister had sought the active participation of the youth in Mission Green to preserve and improve the natural environment. Urging the stake-holders to grab the benefits being provided under the Chief Minister’s Career Counseling and Career Guidance Scheme, Dr. Sangma informed the gathering that this also the PC Tablets will be distributed to the deserving students of Class XI and XII respectively in the month of September next.

On the day, the Chief Minister had distributed the sanction orders to the beneficiaries under the Women Economic Empowerment Scheme and the application forms for availing assistance under the Chief Minister’s Social Assistance Scheme for infirm, widows and disabled respectively.

Local MLA of Kharkutta and the Parliamentary Secretary, in-charge of PWD(R), Mr. Cherak W Momin in his speech, informed the gathering that Rs. 30 lakhs had already been sanctioned for construction of Multi-Facility Centre at Rajasimla and urged the people to grab the benefits being provided by the Govt. under the Inter-State Border Area Development Scheme.

Parliamentary Secretary, in-charge of Transport, Mr. Limison D Sangma in his speech had criticized the previous governments for the underdevelopment and the prevailing situation of Garo Hills. Mr. Sangma, while talking about the commitment of the Govt. informed that Rs. 2300 crores had already been sanctioned for Garo Hills under the PMGSY Scheme.

On the day, Parliamentary Secretary, in-charge of PWD(B), Mr. Brigady N Marak, Director of Social Welfare Department, Mr. HM Shangpliang, the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police of North Garo Hills, Mr. W Khyllep and Mr. JFK Marak respectively also present.(SP News)
