Dr Mukul tells MRB to open more branches in the Rural areas

Shillong, Dec 20: The Meghalaya Rural Bank also not lacking behind in banking facilities to cope up themselves with the changing time in the banking sector by open an online banking in the eleven branches in the state at the initial stage.

While inaugurating the online banking of the MRB, the chief minister Dr Mukul Sangma  lauded performance of the Bank. The chief minister asked the bank to open more branches in the rural areas in the state where banking facilities is needed.

The Chief minister said that if more branches were open it will not only gives job to the educated youth of the state but more importance is the economic up liftmen of the rural people in the state through various government schemes.

The Chief Minister stress upon the bank to open more opportunities to women folk so that they get better opportunity in setting up their own business so that they can be self dependent.

The MRB has 87 branches in all over the state of which 11 branches today gose online these brunches are Laban, Mawiong, Mihmyntdu, Chutwaku, Nongrah, Zero Point, Nondein, Phulbari, Garobadha, Mahendraganj and Mawhati. The remaining branches will do in a phase maner.

Others who were present on these memorable day for the  MRB on the banking sector are  Sanjay Kr. Magoo, CGM – LHO State Bank of India (SBI),  P. Shyam Sunder, CGM – Reserve Bank of India (RBI),  S. R. Bannerjee, Chairman – Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank, Bhupen Deka, Chairman – Mizoram Rural Bank, Smti Rikynti Nongpiur former Chairman of the bank,  Mukul CH. Jeishi, who is the present chairman.
