Dr WR Kharlukhi tendered his resignation to the National president of NPP

Shillong, March 5: Even after losing in the recent concluded election, former Leader of Opposition Conrad Sangma said he is not losing hope but instead will give out his best in serving the people of the state.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday Sangma said that details regarding the party’s failure  in the election has been analyse even as he said that it is the party’s responsibility to work harder for the future.

While mentioning some of the reasons behind the poor performance of the party’s in the Assembly Election 2013, Sangma said  that NPP is still a new party and the people are yet to grab the main stance of this party and lack of time to convey the ideologies of the party to the people had attributed to this poor performance.

Expressing disappointment over the shocking results coming, Sangma said that there is definitely a sense of dis-believe among the voters.

Reacting to a query, the former LO said that there were alot of rich people who joined the fray in the elections and even seen that some of them made it through. This is a clear cut visibility where money power play a big role, Sangma said however adding that no matter what the results, it will incorrect to chllanege the wishes of the voters.

Commenting on muscles power being used during elections, the former LO confessed that the party has been receiving complaints that there were movements in the grassroot levels that did affect the election process. “But these are just points and speculations, and in the end of the day, we just have to accept the outcome and move on”, he added.

Raising complaints with regards to the doubts people have on the EVM, Sangma said that it will be incorrest for the party to doubt the election comminison or anybody but complaints have floated in from different parts of the country with regards to the liability of the EVM and said that it will be appropriate for the election commission to go back to the ballot papers and clear the doubts from people’s minds.

Stating that his party is not an anti-EVM Party, Sangma said that the campaign will be called a filteration process with an aim to support a clean and transparent elections.

Meanwhile, president of the NPP Meghalaya unit, WR Kharlukhi on Tuesday tendered his resignation to the National president of NPP Purno A Sanmga on ground of the party’s poor performance in the recently concluded elections. (SP News)
