Shillong, May 15: The yearlong Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Mawpat Presbyterian Secondary School was inaugurated today by the Meghalaya Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mr. A. L. Hek at the function held at the School premises at Mawpat, Shillong. The celebration was attended by Mr. E. Syiemlieh, MLA and MDC, Mr. W. S. Challam, District School and Education Officer, East Khasi Hills, Rev. E. S. Pyngrope, teachers, students, parents and others.
Speaking as the chief quest the Minister said that “Education is a capital investment made by parents for their children to pursue academic excellence”.He lauded the school for achieving the milestone of 25 years and the relentless effort of the Managing Committee of the school for its noble endeavour in spreading and making quality education accessible to all in Mawpat and its adjoining areas.
Stating that teacher plays a very important role in moulding and shaping the future of the students, Mr. Hek called upon the teachers to dedicate their time and energy in imparting quality education to the students. While urging upon the teachers to continue to work with a mission, vision and determination to educate students and give the right inputs so that they can overcome hurdles and obstacles, Mr. Hek encourage the teachers to inculcate the spirit of competition into the students so that they can compete with other students.
While opining that education helps a student to develop his faculty and release the latent energies like ambition, endurance, perseverance, enthusiasm to achieve their avowed goal in life, Mr. Hek urged upon the students to strive hard in their studies so that they can excel in their career. He also reminded the students of what the society expects from them as enlightened citizens in contributing in a fruitful way to the society at large..(SP News)
