Shillong, Feb 21: The 34th Enterprise Facilitation Centre in the State was inaugurated today by Mr. Sanjay Goyal, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman Basin Development Unit, East Khasi Hills District in the presence of Mr. Cyril V.D. Diengdoh, SDO (C) Sohra at Shella-Bholaganj C&RD Block.
Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest Mr. Goyal said that the Enterprise Resource Persons have been trained to interact with people and to cater to their needs like helping them to take the right direction in any enterprise that they intend to set up and disseminating the information therein. This Centre is for the people to come to the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Promotion Programme which will not look upon them as beneficiaries but instead as partners who will take the ownership in driving the programme, added Mr. Goyal.
The Programme is not meant for distributing Schemes but for supporting the partners with training, exposure, Bank linkage, etc so that they can stand on their own feet by setting up of various enterprises, informed Mr. Goyal.
Mr. Cyril V D. Diengdoh, SDO (C) Sohra, in his speech said that he is very glad about the inauguration of the Centre at Shella-Bholaganj C&RD Block. He added that this will be a great opportunity to tap the resources available and the potential of the people and this Centre would also help in market linkages and in setting up of various projects relating to food and fruit processing units. He also said that this Centre will act as a bridge to connect the people to various opportunities of enterprises.
Mr. B. Lyngdoh, OSD, MIE said that this is the Centre wherein people can get information about various schemes available in the State and from this Centre, after the people have registered themselves, various interventions will be done like capacity building, bank linkage, etc.
Participants from various line departments, villages and organisations, societies were present in the function which was chaired by Mr. B. Mawlong, Addl. Deputy Commissioner & Member Secretary Basin Development Unit, East Khasi Hills District who also gave an insight about the Enterprise Facilitation Centre and its function. The function ended with a vote of thanks from the Block Development Officer, Shella-Bholaganj C&RD Block Mr. L. Kynjing.(SP News)
