Shillong Sept ,25:The farmers’ training –Awareness Campaign on integrated farming and SRI(system of Rice intensification) , cultivation was held under integrated basin Development and Livelihood promotion Program (IBDLP) in collaboration with Agriculture Depertment at Wilson Club , Bakrapara I resubelpara North Garo Hills.
Speaking as the Chief quest at the inaugural program, North Garo Hill Deputy Commissoinner Mr W Khyllep Highlighted the importance of rice cultivation and its production and productivity . He expressed his happiness that the farmers of NorthGaro Hill have started using machineries like power, tiller, water pump .etc for rice cultivation.
He said that under the flagship programme. IBDLP, which includes rice mission, the farmers would achieve the target that ghasd been set before them, adding that on reaching the target, they would prosper economically .The deputy Commissioner also emphasized on coordination and cooperation between the government Departments and farmers.
During the day long training programme, Sub-Divisional Agriculture officer , Resubelpara , Mr C.k Marak gave the training on SRI method of rice cultivation, veterinary, officer Dr .Walme K sangma on piggery ,while Sub-Divisional Fishery officer , Ms. Helparin A sangma gave the training on the fish culture.(SP News)
