Film Fest on Tangkhul Culture was held at NEC Auditorium

Shillong, June 1: With an aimed to promote the dying culture of the indigenous people, a Film Fest on Tangkhul Culture, was held at NEC auditorium on Saturday.

The Shillong Premiere is being organised to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Tangkhul Students’ Union of Shillong (Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Shillong).

The event is aimed at creating awareness on the significance of preserving the rich, diverse and age-old culture of the Tangkhul Nagas.

Three documentary films on Tangkhul culture the National Award Winner (India 2010) Songs of Mashangva was screened for the select and invited audiences.

In the first edition — the event, managed by Independent Filmmakers, brought the National Award Winner (India 2010) Songs of Mashangva back to the roots where the film belongs to. Director Oinam Doren and his protagonist Rewben Mashangva returned to the land of Tangkhuls together ever since making the award winning film. (SP News)
