Finally NEIGHRIMS get MCI recognition

Shillong, April 22: Much to the relieved of the ambitious medical students studying at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) as the institution  finally gets its recognition from the Medical Council of India, (MCI).

The recognition of this institute came with a confirmation letter from the MCI on Saturday.

Informing media persons here on Monday, NEIGRIHMS Director, AG.Ahanger said that the confirmation letter was received on Saturday last,

“ Today is the brightest day. We got it done, ” Ahangar said.

He credited the quality and transparency of the examination examined by the MCI officials as the main reasons for the recognition besides the up to the mark infrastructure and zeal of the faculty members and staff.

Dwelling on the intricacies of the problems faced by NEIGRIHMS and the probable remedial to it, Ahanger put forward a number of problems and suggestions pertaining to connectivity, land allotment for NEIGRIHMS Township to faculties.

Stating that there is a dearth of faculty members in most of the medical institutions in the country including NEIGRIHMS despite several efforts, he however said, “I can say with pride that we are better off than the other institutions there.”
