Shillong, July 15: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister asking the government to convert U Tirot Sing building at Nongkhlaw into a museum so that the freedom fighter, Syiem of Nongkhlaw be duly honour.
The State Government every year hounur the death adversary on the 17th of this month recoginsing him as a freedom fighter who revolt the British in the 1829. To be more realistic in honouring him the state government should sanction proper found from the Special Plan Assistant so that the work of the Syiem of Hima Nongkhlaw would be display in the museum.
The FKJGP feel that the present building which is there in Nongkhlaw need to be fully furnished, equipped and converted into the museum depicting U Tirot Sing History contribution and achievement by way of flims, painting and sculpture and repository of information to preserved the legacy in order to attracted people from out side for thus who want to know more about him.
The FKJGP reminded the chief minister that through the inactive of the FKJGP that they could get found from the MPLAD from Late Professor G G Swell to build the “ Khasi Patriotic Home” at Nongkhlaw. (SP News)
