Former Rajya Sabha MP, claimed that he would topple Dr Mukul government

Shillong, Sept 5: Former Rajya Sabha MP Robert Kharshiiing has today claimed that he would topple the present government let by Dr Mukul Sangma and form a new “transparent” government that will serve the people of Meghalaya in a far better way which includes security and peace.

Speaking to reporters in his hospital room at Nazareth Hospital while undergoing treatment Robert Kharshiiing said that the Mukul Sangma led government is totally incompatible in dealing with the present “burning” situation.

“For the last few days the state burning. Arson, bomb blast, burnings, stone throwing, attacks has become the order of the day; law and order has collapsed. As a senior leader of the state I am deeply concerned with the situation in our state. I am sorry to say that Dr Mukul “Sangma” (quote requested) has failed to be serving I demand his resignation,” the former MP said.

Expressing his annoyance to the present Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma for not replying to his letter or SMSs in offering his valuable experiences in dealing such situations, the former MP said that he should step down.

In this regard Robert Kharshiing has written a letter to the Governor of Meghalaya Dr KK Paul and the copy has been sent to the President of AICC, Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Tribal Minister Kishore Singh Deo, Vice President AICC Rahul Gandhi, Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh and RC Laloo, Government of Meghalaya and Home Minister Roshan warjri.

Questioning the true identity of the state’s Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, Robert Kharshiing demanded a CBI enquiry saying, “Dr Mukul is a fake tribal which falls under the most serious crime in India and I demand his resignation.”

Claiming that he had been the main force in changing five governments in the state, the former Rajya Sabha MP said that he decided to join the Congress Party in order to fulfill the aspirations of the people.

“I have decided to join the Congress Party because of the inefficiency of the present government which is not taking the issues seriously,” Kharshiing said while maintaining that he has no doubt that the party higher up will not decline his offer.

Robert Kharshiing further said, “I intend to form a congress led all party government consisting of between 45-52 MLAs. However if all the 60 MLAs including Dr Mukul are prepared to work under me they are most welcome and  I am confident of at least 45 MLAs.”

When asked about his first step in tackling the current situation, Kharshiing said, “My first orders will be to institute a Chief Ministers Advisory Council (CMAC) where the Member Secretary Chief Secretary WMS Pariat, Government of Meghalaya, the chairperson of that CMAC will be one of the 10 NGOs. All the other 10 NGOs will be the members of the CMAC. The chairperson will have the rank of a cabinet minister of the Government of Meghalaya. Presidents of KSU GSU and JSU will get the rank of Cabinet Ministers while the office bearers will be given the adequate titles.”

When asked if he will implement the ILP, Kharshiing said, “I will immediately enter into negotiation with an open mind with all sections of the society including all NGOs, all MLAs, religious organizations, tribals and non- tribals. This state was meant for the people not the other way around.”

Expressing confidence, the former MP said, “After my swearing-in there will be no agitation; peace and harmony will be restored and all who have been arrested during the agitation will be released.”

Robert Kharshiing concluded saying, “This state is land of peace and I will restore it immediately from day one.”(SP News)
