Tura, Feb 19: Four cadres of newly formed outfit – A’chik Songna
An’pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) were arrested today from Rongkhugre, about 19 km from Tura.
The cadres have been identified as Lucky R Natal, Netun R Sangma,
Damin Ch Sangma and Elkin K Sangma.
West Garo Hills SP, Mukesh Singh said, “The cadres were arrested this
afternoon in a joint operation by the special operation team (SOT) and
special weapons and tactics team (SWAT) commandos. Our interrogation
is on”.
One 9 mm pistol, one 7.65 pistol, 6 live rounds, walkie talkie along
with demand notes of ASAK and GNLA were recovered from their
possession.
The new outfit is a breakaway faction of the Garo National Liberation
Army (GNLA) and is headed by the former finance secretary of the GNLA,
