SHILLONG, January08: With an aim to spread awareness to the people of Mawlai on good governance and clean politics, the various NGOs of Mawlai area recently joined hands and formed a committee with an expectation to constitute a full-fledged Mawlai Clean Politics Campaign Committee (MCPCC).
This idea was mooted out just one month ahead of the electoral poll in the state with an aim to make people aware of the importance of understanding the role of politicians and his motives for better governance and overall development.
Led by the KSU Mawlai Circle, this committee also included NGOs like HNYF, HANM Women’s wing, Synjuk Seng Samla Shnong (SSSS)-Mawlai circle, Seng Kynthei Mawiong Umjapung, All Mawlai Dancers’ Association, Mawlai Sport Club, Mawlai and Mawiong Taxi Owners’ and Drivers’ Association, Principals of various schools in Mawlai including a few Rangbah Shnong of Mawlai area.
“We believe that by constituting this committee, there is hope for better and clean governance while helping the people to understand the meaning of clean politics”, KSU Mawlai Circle President Donboklang Kharlyngdoh said here on Monday.
The KSU leader has also lauded the efforts of Nongkrem Legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit for leading this movement stating that this campaign is like awareness to the uneducated lots in respect to good governance.
“Like always, Basaiawmoit keep issues relating to the indigenous community in the forefront and then comes politics. We are proud of his move and stance and this is what a true tribal leader should be”, the Kharlyngdoh reiterated.
Kharlyngdoh informed that they are hoping members of the Clean Politics campaign to hold talks with them in the coming days in order to set up a full-fledged MCPCC for the betterment of the area as a whole.
The various social organizations also elected few members to the newly formed committee with KSU Mawlai President Donboklang Kharlyngdoh as the chairman, Mawlai Sport Club secretary F Kharbuli as the secretary and two members from each organization as members.(SP News)
