German delegation meet Dr Mukul Sangma to discuss on the Climate Change

Shillong, July 25: A team of German delegation met state Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Thursday to discuss on initiating programmes to address concerning issues of climate change.

Led by head of delegation Dr Utta Bolhoef, the delegation from the German Development Cooperation (GDC) is all out to work in tandem with the state government in terms of providing with new and latest technology to preserve, conserve and maintain the ecological balance of the environment.

Addressing media persons after meeting the state chief Minister Dr Sangma  Dr Bolhoef said that GDC being the key partner agency with the state of Meghalaya will extend its hand to support the state in order to deal with climate change which is affecting the state.

She also said that the state government needs to roll out the new technology and share with communities and the other North Eastern State.”Meghalaya really needs to roll out the programme to address the concern issue,” Bolhoef said adding that GDC is willing to showcase what could be done to protect environment in Meghalaya.

Meanwhile Dr Sangma informed that during the meeting discussions were also been made on the government’s engagement with the GDC besides the meeting also deliberate at length on how to incorporate additional components of intervention with regards to environment. Sangma later informed that the meeting also dwelt on the proposals that are pending for clearance with the union government.(SP News)
