Shillong Nov 28: With an aim to boost the economy of the state, the state cabinet minister on Wednesday said that it will make all efforts to increase the economy of the state and for this the government is contemplating to amend the Meghalaya excise rule.
The government is ready to amend the Meghalaya Excies rule so as to increase the economy by bringing in investment in brewery in promoting investment in bottling plants.
Addressing the media persons after the cabinet meeting it was informed that the government will provide 15 percent concession for all bottling plants establish in meghalaya and similar benefits is being extended to brewery which establish in the state in order to encourage and enable them to compete and withstand the onslaught of the market.
Chief Minister of meghalaya Dr mukul Sangma also informed that another concession which is proposed is to encourage the export of beer bottles manufactured in the state.
Also informed that earlier export fees was rupees hundres per case, the Chief Minister said that this is being done in order to sell outside the state and but this time in order to generate revenue the amount has been brought down by two rupees, so as to encourage investment and build their own brand.
It was also informed that earlier import fee for beers imported from outside was Rs 50 per case but this stand revise as per the proposal and approval of the cabinet to Rs 86 per case.(SP News)
